“Aswan Women’s Films” celebrates “Daughters of Olfa” and pays tribute to Hend Sabry and Ghada Adel

The Aswan International Women’s Film Festival raised the curtain on the activities of its eighth session yesterday, Thursday, with the festival jury announcing this year’s list of award-winning films. The session saw the screening of 76 films from 36 countries.

The festival administration announced, in a press release, that the feature film jury decided to award the best film prize to “Les Filles d’Olfa”, written and directed by Kawthar Ben Haniyeh, and a co-production between 4 countries: France, Tunisia. , Germany and Saudi Arabia.

The award for best direction was won by director Sarah Somma for the German film “Artur and Diana”, the award for best screenplay was won by director and screenwriter Kawthar Ben Hania for the film “Les Filles d’Olfa” and the Best Acting Award. went to Bianca Delbravo, Delphine Asaad and Saphira Mosberg, the heroines of the film “Paradise is Burning”, which is a production shared between 4 countries: Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Italy. for the Egyptian film “The Letters of Cheikh Daraz”, written and directed by Maggie Morgan.

The short films jury awarded a special mention to the Egyptian film “Shi Gabi”, written and directed by Islam Kamal. The jury prize was awarded to the Spanish film “Colorado”, directed by Sandra Gallego and Pilar Gómez, and the prize for best direction was awarded. to director Dalia Nemlesh for the Lebanese film “You Remember” and won the award for best film: “L’Envoyé de Dieu”, screenplay and direction by Amina Mamani Abdoulaye, a co-production between Niger, Burkina Faso and Rwanda.

The Best Egyptian Film award was also won by “Journey 404”, directed by Hani Khalifa. The European Union Prize was awarded equally to the Egyptian film “The Letters of Sheikh Daraz”, written and directed by Maggie Morgan, and to “Daughters of Olfa”.

The Athar Films jury awarded the Best Film prize to the film “I Told You So”, directed by Malak Al-Sayyad, an Egyptian-American-German production. The jury prize also went to the film “Nour Ainy”, directed by Muhannad Diab. which is a joint production between Egypt and the Netherlands, and the jury awarded the prize for the best idea to a film “Internal Day” directed by Rafiq Joseph.

The first prize in the workshop film competition was won by the film “Resurrection”, written and directed by Mohamed Rabie, the second prize was won by the film “La Roue”, written and directed by Safaa Metwally, and the third prize was won. by the film “You Live”, written and directed by Mahmoud Hamdy.

The committee gave special mention to the film “Al-Ghanaya” directed by Randa Diaa, to the film “Biography of the Paths” directed by Amr Mostafa and to the film “Light of Solitude” written and directed by Maryam Abdel Ghaffar. a special mention to actor Khaled Atallah for his performance in the workshop films.
