The VivoBook Go 15 does not stand out for its design. Digital
The Asus VivoBook Go 15 Oled is the Taiwanese manufacturer’s most accessible laptop. It is also found under several names depending on the brand by which it is sold (VivoBook S15, VivoBook Go, etc.), or even thanks to its code name (S1504FA or E1504FA). Anyway, we are dealing with the same chassis, but be careful, because Asus can vary the components and the screen.
We got our hands on the ViVoBook Go 15 Oled which, as its name suggests, features an Oled panel, all powered by AMD’s new processors for entry-level laptops, the Mendocino. You should not be fooled when buying, because these processors carry the same Ryzen denomination as the most efficient.
The VivoBook Go 15 is available from €450. Our test model equipped with an Oled panel is offered at 719 €.
Construction
The VivoBook Go 15 Oled being a so-called affordable model, it has an all-plastic chassis. If it takes up the VivoBook badge on its cover, this is a simple screen-printed boss. The plastic used in our black version is very sensitive to the slightest fingerprint, and the coating quickly turns into a field strewn with fingerprints.

The opening of the cover reveals a black tone-on-tone keyboard, provided however with a backlight. The feeling of the keys of the keyboard is very suitable and the rigidity of the piano more than sufficient. Note the presence of a three-column numeric keypad.
The touchpad is for its part rather reduced, but the slide takes place without a hitch and the gestures of Windows 11 are perfectly recognized.

The VivoBook 15 GB ignores 2023 and is therefore content with ports with somewhat dated standards. There is thus an HDMI 1.4 port, two USB ports (including one USB 2.0) and a USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 port. The wireless connectivity is of the same ilk with a somewhat outdated wifi chip (wifi 5) and Bluetooth 4. Do not expect to take full advantage of a fiber connection with the VivoBook 15 GB.

The webcam located above the screen is equipped with a 720p sensor with to this. The image is not very detailed and smooth, but it will do for occasional visios.
The cooling of the Vivobook Go 15 is relatively basic, since the onboard processor releases few calories. A set consisting of a heat pipe, a radiator and a fan ensures that the whole unit is cooled. Under the thermal camera, the VivoBook stays cool under all circumstances, despite our CPU-intensive encoding. The center of the keyboard is the hottest point with barely 38 ° C measured, enough to warm your hands a bit in winter.
This laptop is surprisingly quiet, even in action. Our sound level meter thus recorded 35 dB during our encoding, which is rather low and should not disturb office neighbors.
The Ryzen 5 7520U is not one to overheat. Digital
Disassembling the VivoBook 15 does not pose any particular problem. 10 screws hold the shell in place, and once it is removed, we have access to the SSD, the wifi card and the battery. The RAM, on the other hand, is soldered, so be careful to choose the right amount when purchasing.
The repairability index announced by Asus is 7.9/10, despite the soldered RAM.

Performances
The VivoBook Go 15 made available to us by Asus houses an AMD Ryzen 5 7520U processor, 8 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD. Contrary to what the name of the processor suggests, it is not particularly fast . It relies on an older generation of Zen cores and is aimed at entry-level laptops. Four hyperthreaded cores that can reach 4.3 GHz in boost therefore “motorize” this Ryzen 5, but its thermal envelope is limited to 15 W.
Processor performance index (the bigger the better). Digital
As we feared when deciphering the characteristics of the Ryzen 5 7520U, the VivoBook Go 15 does not perform miracles when it comes to performance. Its index is 66, a relatively low score since the Core i5-1135G5 of the Thomson Evo, released at the end of 2020, is 18% more efficient. And to add confusion to AMD’s processor lineup, the Ryzen 5 5500U, released in late 2021, performs 31% better in the Honor MagicBook 15.
The VivoBook Go 15 is therefore intended mainly for office automation or content consultation, since even the new integrated graphics part (Radeon 610M) is not particularly efficient. We launched Diablo 3 in Full HD and the latter struggled to exceed 15 fps. A result lower than the Vega 6 graphics part of the Ryzen 5000U, for example.
Screen
Our VivoBook Go 15 has an Oled panel displaying 1920 x 1080 pixels at 60 Hz. Suffice to say that it is clearly the model’s foil, because it is quite rare to find this technology on a laptop PC for less than 800 € .
It will be necessary to take care of the orientation of the screen to avoid reflections. Digital
Under our probe, the Oled panel is faithful with a delta E measured at 1.9, well below the threshold of 3 beyond which colorimetric drifts are visible. Due to its technology, this VivoBook enjoys almost infinite contrast with perfect blacks, but also flawless responsiveness since persistence is almost non-existent. The color temperature is close to the ideal video standard (6500 K) with 6741 K – it will be possible to adjust this point if you insist on it via the MyAsus software.
Finally, the brightness is 386 cd / m²; an average value, moreover handicapped by the absence of anti-reflective treatment. The glossy finish panel reflects just over 50% of the light. You will therefore avoid placing yourself near a window to avoid unwanted reflections.
Audio
The VivoBook Go 15 has two speakers placed under its chassis. The rendering will therefore depend on the surface on which you place the VivoBook. Your hands will potentially cover the speakers when typing.
When listening, these deliver a sound that clearly lacks bass. What’s more, the plastic chassis produces a box effect similar to that of a speaker placed in a cardboard box.

Mobility / Autonomy
The VivoBook Go 15 is a relatively ordinary chassis, and its dimensions are simply within the office standard. It measures 36 x 28 cm for 1.8 cm thick. Its weight of 1.8 kg makes it easy to carry and its 65 W charger adds only 192 g on the scale.

With its 50 Wh battery and, above all, its bird-hungry processor, the VivoBook Go 15 achieves just over 11 hours of battery life away from a power outlet on our usual protocol (Netflix on Chrome, screen at 200 cd/m²). It is therefore an excellent performance for a computer that is not particularly intended for nomadism.

Conclusion
How does grading work?
The VivoBook Go 15 alternates hot and cold with an impeccable screen, but prone to reflections and autonomy worthy of the best ultraportables. However, its dated connectivity and just decent performance will not satisfy the most demanding.
