ASUS unveils next-generation Zenbook S13 laptop with 13.3-inch 2.8K OLED screen

positioned between Zenbook Pro as well as Zenbook 14 at CES In between are the Zenbook S 13 OLED and Zenbook S 13 Flip OLED released today. Compared to the Zenbook, the Zenbook S has always been more thin and light, and the new Zenbook S brings the 16:10 panel into the equation.

The Zenbook S 13 OLED (UM5302), which cannot be flipped, weighs only 1kg and is 14.9mm thick. It is equipped with a 13.3-inch 2.8K resolution OLED panel and supports touch. It uses AMD’s platform and can be equipped with up to a Ryzen 7 6800U processor and Radeon internal display, coupled with 16GB of memory and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. The Zenbook S 13 OLED claims to have 19 hours of power and can be fast-charged to 60% in 49 minutes, plus it has an antibacterial coating to protect your health. However, in terms of ports, it only has three USB-Cs, which can’t be squeezed into USB-A like the Zenbook 14.

Zenbook S 13 Flip OLED (UP5302), as the name suggests, is naturally a flip-screen version of S 13, but although the screen is also a 13.3-inch 2.8K resolution OLED panel, here is an Intel platform, which can be equipped with an I7-1260P processor. And Iris Xe internal display, with 32GB memory and 1TB PCIe SSD. Due to the addition of the flip mechanism, its weight has increased slightly to 1.1kg, and it also has an antibacterial coating. The three USB-C ports here are Thunderbolt 4 specs, and there’s one more microSD card reader than the Zenbook S 13 OLED.

The local listing information of the two Zenbook S 13 OLED series models has yet to be announced. For reference, the US S13 OLED is priced at US$1,299.99, while the S13 Flip OLED is US$1,499.99.

Also updated are Vivobook’s high-end Vivobook Pro and mid-range Vivobook S series, both of which get new OLED panels. Among them, the Vivobook Pro is available in 14.5-inch, 15.6-inch and 16-inch sizes, named Vivobook Pro 14X OLED, Vivobook Pro 15X OLED and Vivobook 16X OLED.The 14X is a 16:10 2.8K, 120Hz panel; the 15X is a 16:9 2.8K, 120Hz panel; and the 16X is a 16:10 3.2K, 120Hz panel

Vivobook Pro 16X OLED can choose up to i9-12900H or Ryzen 9 6900HX processor, with up to RTX 3070Ti graphics card, 32GB RAM and 2TB SSD, the whole machine is 19.9mm thick and weighs 2.3kg. Pro 15X OLED can choose up to Intel Core i7-12700H or AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX processor, with RTX 3070 graphics card; while Pro 14X OLED can choose up to i9-12900H processor, with RTX 3050Ti graphics card.

Finally, there are the Vivobok S 14X OLED and Vivobook S 16X OLED of the Vivobook S series. In terms of positioning, they have no independent display configuration in exchange for a thinner and lighter body. The former is a 14.5-inch 2.8K, 120Hz refresh rate 16:10 OLED panel, while the latter uses a 16-inch 4K, 120Hz refresh rate 16:10 OLED panel. Both come with a choice of up to an Intel Core i7-12700H processor or an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX processor, paired with 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. The Vivobook S 16X OLED weighs 1.9kg, while the Vivobook S 14X OLED is only 1.6kg.
