So, is it really necessary to adopt such measures? That’s the question we asked manufacturer Asus, and their answers were as expected. Asus claims that there is no need to use additional stabilization for a graphics card in a PC that remains stationary. As long as the PC is stable and not moving, a large graphics card can be installed without problem simply using the case’s mounting screws.

As long as the PC is not moved and rests securely (e.g. on a stable table), we see no risk in installing large graphics cards without additional graphics card support. Graphics card holders primarily have visual advantages, as they compensate for the slight bending caused by the graphics card’s own weight. However, the slight curvature is not a problem for most modern motherboards, as they often have reinforced PCIe slots (like ASUS Safe Slots). The PCIe connection of the graphics cards can also support these loads.

What graphics card brackets do professionals recommend?

Graphics card brackets, which some users add, serve primarily aesthetic purposes, as they compensate for the slight flex caused by the weight of the graphics card. However, this slight curvature is generally not a problem for most modern motherboards, as they often feature reinforced PCIe slots. PCIe connections on graphics cards are designed to support these loads.

Asus recommends using the bracket that came with the graphics card or a universal bracket like the ROG Herculx or ROG Wingwall.
