Asuncion, IP Agency.-The Paraguayan Rowing Federation officially announced the celebration of the South American Junior Rowing Championship Asunción 2024.
The competition will take place over three days between July 12 and 14, and will take place in the Bay of Asunción. It is expected to bring together 250 athletes from eight countries on the continent.
The South American Rowing Confederation, whose main objective is to promote the development of Olympic rowing in South America, starting with the junior categories, seeks to foster and consolidate the foundations of the sport in the region. The event has the support of the National Sports Secretariat, the COP and the Municipality of Asunción.
The president of the Paraguayan Rowing Federation, Pablo Seitz, reported that the South American Championship will receive 250 athletes representing 30 clubs from eight countries on the continent: Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Chile, Peru, Mexico and Paraguay.
“This event not only represents an opportunity for young rowers to showcase their talent, but also a space for cultural and sporting exchange between South American nations,” said Seitz.
Competitors will compete in three rowing disciplines: Olympic Rowing, Coastal Rowing and Indoor Rowing. These disciplines offer a variety of challenges and allow athletes to demonstrate their versatility and technical skills in different conditions and environments.
Asunción thus becomes the epicentre of continental youth rowing, offering an excellent setting for competition and sporting growth.
