After a superb full moon at the beginning of the month, the end of July 2023 has some nice surprises in store for us in the sky! Between July 19 and 22, several planets will exceptionally align with the Moon.
At the beginning of July, we were able to admire a magnificent Super Moon, an event that happens regularly in summer. Others await us until the beginning of September but in the meantime, we are enjoying a particularly bright Venus this Sunday, July 9, visible for a while, and soon a alignment of major planetsof July 19 to 22, 2023, in between Mercury, Venus, Mars and the Moon !
In the night of July 19 to 20, shortly following sunset, we will see the Moon appear softly and pass close to two planets, Mercury and Venus, which are particularly low at this time, and easy to spot thanks to the significant brilliance of the Evening Star. The following night, a new planet invites itself to the party, the glowing Mars, a little higher and to the west than the other two. So look towards this direction and the constellation of Leo, before a clear landscape on the horizon to take advantage of an alignment between our satellite and three planets of our solar system, until July 22.
Both passionate and amateur astronomers will be able to observe this event with the naked eye, or through a simple telescope. If the weather is nice during these two summer evenings, you can attend a superb show!
