After numerous weather-related delays, four astronauts have begun their journey home from the International Space Station (ISS) to Earth. The capsule of the so-called “Crew 8” – NASA astronauts Matthew Dominick, Michael Barratt and Jeanette Epps as well as Russian cosmonaut Alexander Grebenkin – undocked from the ISS, live images from the US space agency showed.

US tech billionaire Elon Musk’s “Crew Dragon” capsule from private space company SpaceX is expected to land in the sea off the US state of Florida on Friday.

“Crew 8” had been on board the ISS since March. She was actually supposed to fly back to Earth about two weeks ago, but then Hurricane Milton disrupted the plans. Even after that, according to NASA, the weather conditions remained too unfavorable for a return.
