Gilgit-Baltistan K Store side The administration has said on Wednesday that 14 bodies out of 27 people have been pulled out of the Indus River in the accident that happened to the Barati bus in the area yesterday, while only the bride has survived the accident.

According to Deputy Commissioner Astoor Muhammad Tariq, there were 27 people on board the coaster, including the driver, which collided with something before the accident and fell into the river below the Telchi bridge.

Giving the details of the accident to the media, Mohammad Tariq said that after the accident, the car was completely submerged in water and was not visible from the outside.

According to the Deputy Commissioner: ‘Since Thrichar Bridge is located on the border of Diamer and Astor districts, we informed the rescue officials of both the districts and dispatched them to the spot.’

He further said: ‘An hour after the rescue operation, the bodies were started to be pulled out of the river and meanwhile the first bride who came to the surface of the water before drowning, was taken out of the river by the locals and shifted to the hospital. .’

According to the Deputy Commissioner, till the latest reports, the bride suffered minor injuries, whose condition is now out of danger and she is undergoing treatment at Gilgal Hospital.

He said: ‘So far we have recovered 14 bodies and the vehicle has also been recovered, in which there is no body. The passengers got out of the car and drowned in the river.’

Mohammad Tariq said that the local people at different places along the river have also been told to keep an eye on the missing persons and inform us so that all the bodies can be recovered.

Regarding the bride’s survival, Daldad Ali, spokesperson of Deputy Commissioner Astor, told Independent Urdu that a woman, who was later found to be the bride, was shifted to the hospital with injuries immediately after the accident.

He said that the woman was first shifted to Astor Hospital and later to Gilgit Hospital, where her condition is now out of danger.

Diamar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sher Khan told Independent Urdu that the accident occurred due to speeding.

He said that the first coaster collided with the railing of the bridge and went out of control and after climbing the bridge, it fell into the river after rubbing 15 yards from the bridge.

SSP Sher Khan said that a video statement of the bride has also emerged, in which she has confirmed that the incident took place due to speeding.

Gilgit-Baltistan Rescue 1122 district emergency officer Tahir Shah told Independent Urdu that ‘there are definitely some challenges in the search and rescue operation but we are trying to find the rest of the missing passengers.’

He said that the biggest challenge is the low temperature because it is cold and it is difficult to conduct search operations in water.

He said that the rapid flow of the river and muddy water are also causing difficulties, making it difficult to get help from the camera.
