The Argentine goalkeeper made an impressive save, but could not prevent the 2-0 against his former team.
Arsenal’s goals against Dibu Martinez
Dibu Martínez made an impressive save, but he could not prevent Aston Villa from losing 2-0 to Arsenal. The Gunners took advantage through the saves of Belgian Leandro Trossard, in which the goalkeeper could do nothing, and of Ghanaian Thomas Partey, in which he could have offered more opposition.
The match started with a fired-up Dibu, who with a spectacular dive prevented Saka from scoring. The stadium came to a head after the Argentine’s save, which he celebrated as if it were his own goal. However, in the second half, Arsenal managed to overcome Villa’s resistance.
Trossard opened the scoring with a cross shot that left Dibu without a reaction. But it was the second goal that hurt the Argentine goalkeeper the most. Saka set up Partey, who finished with first intention. Dibu managed to touch the ball, but could not prevent it from going in. The frustration of the Mar del Plata native was evident.
A separate paragraph for the save by David Raya, Arsenal’s goalkeeper, who with the game 0-0 made a phenomenal save. First, Amadou Onana shot from the edge of the area, the ball deflected off a defender and caught the goalkeeper off guard, but the shot ended up on the crossbar. On the rebound, Ollie Watkins dove to connect with it and Raya quickly got up to stretch and save the header.
