Aston Martin F1 team representative Mike Krack has denied rumors that Mick Schumacher will replace Sebastian Vettel. He says he is “very confident” that Vettel will remain on the team in 2023.
Drivers such as Fernando Alonso and Oscar Piastri have linked to Vettel, given the lack of progress in the Aston Martin F1 and the potential diminished motivation of Sebastian Vettel.
However, Aston Martin F1 team representative Mike Krack says there are no signs that 34-year-old Sebastian Vettel will take off his helmet.
“If you look at his debriefing and phone calls, the way he gets involved, it won’t look like a driver who doesn’t want to drive,” Mike Crash told n-tv.
“No one who doesn’t want to drive does that.”
Mike Krack says Sebastian Vettel in Monaco was a perfect example. ..
“It was the best performance since the first lap,” said Mike Krack, adding that the goal of the remaining Aston Martin F1 in 2022 is to create a condition where Sebastian Vettel “can show his talent.” ..
Mike Crash also says that Sebastian Vettel does not have a deadline to sign a new contract.
“When you have someone like Sebastian, you have to try to keep him,” said Mike Krack, who is also from Germany.
“It’s a mix of the best driving quality, experience, and a very positive personality that helps us make progress.”
“We don’t have to push him,” said Mike Krack, who said Aston Martin F1 is working to improve the car and team to convince Sebastian Vettel.
Mike Crash also seemed to deny rumors that Mick Schumacher could be the successor to Sebastian Vettel.
Asked about Mick Schumacher’s rumors, Mike Krack said, “We obviously want to continue Sebastian.”
“Everything else will be announced at a later date.”
But Aston Martin F1 says it is currently looking at all F1 drivers, including “difficult” Mick Schumacher.
“But I don’t have enough knowledge to judge the details of his team and the environment.”
