Asterix Returns: New Comic Adventure Set in a Culture-Rich Destination
Excitement is brewing among fans of Asterix, the beloved comic series celebrated as the most translated in the world, as the release date for part 41 draws near.
October 23, 2025, marks the day readers will once again join their favorite Gaulish duo on a globetrotting escapade. A French teaser page has already been unveiled, offering a tantalizing glimpse into the upcoming adventure, although further details remain shrouded in secrecy.
While a Dutch version of the teaser page is yet to be released, hints suggest it may contain additional content, potentially including scenes taking place between pages 2 and 3 of the main story.
Fabcaro Takes the Helm Once More
Renowned screenwriter Fabcaro returns to helm the writing for part 41, taking over from Jean-Yves Ferri, who penned the previous installments. His last project, The White Iris, achieved remarkable success, selling 2.2 million copies in France alone, a 2% increase compared to part 39.
Though tight-lipped about the specific location of the Gauls’ latest adventure, Fabcaro hinted at a locale both familiar and unexpected. When asked if the pair would be venturing to a warmer climate this time, he playfully replied, “I’m not allowed to say anything! You can sunbathe in both Stockholm and Marrakech.” The teaser page offers a clue, depicting Obelix contentedly staying put at their home village, implying that even a sense of adventure might not tempt him from his comforts.
Describing the process of choosing the destination, Fabcaro explained, “The first step was to ask myself where they hadn’t been yet and where I wanted to go. Once I had the starting point, everything unfolded naturally. The field of possibilities is shrinking, but if society evolves, there will be new themes. ”
He also revealed the creation of several new characters for the upcoming comic, adding another layer of intrigue to the story.
Didier Conrad Expresses Delight with the Chosen Location
Illustrator Didier Conrad, who collaborates with Fabcaro to bring the Asterix world to life, is equally enthusiastic about the next destination.
“It is a country we have wanted to go to for a long time. It was not easy to do it, but I am very happy because we have a real travel album with a recognizable destination,” Conrad shared.
While remaining tight-lipped about the specific country, he assured readers that it is a place rich in culture and history, stocked with references that long-time fans will appreciate.
Conrad dismissed speculation that Asterix and Obelix might be headed to China, clarifying, “There are old references for where we end up in this album. There’s everything you need!” This statement effectively squashes any lingering rumors linking the story to the setting explored in Guillaume Canet’s recent Asterix film.
Will the Dutch version of the teaser page reveal any additional details about the story?
