This Tuesday, August 15, is the Assumption. This holiday results in closures in some areas. We take stock.
Services
On August 15, bpost will be closed. No parcels, letters or newspapers will be distributed and post offices and sorting centers will be closed.
All banks will remain curtain closed on Tuesday, as for all public holidays.
Several administrations will remain closed on August 15. To make sure you don’t stay in front of a closed door, it’s best to check on your municipality’s website. The regional and federal services make the bridge and will reopen this Wednesday.
Supermarkets
For this Assumption Day, many supermarkets will be closed and you will have to go to the shops usually open on Sundays and public holidays to do your shopping. The Aldi, Lidl, Cora, Makro, Okay and Colruyt brands will be closed in particular. Some Delhaize and Carrefour stores will however be open, following usual Sunday hours.
Some Spar stores will be open, it is necessary to check their hours on the store’s website. This is also the case for most Match stores, which will open in the morning.
Transports
SNCB has indicated that its offer will be adapted for this long weekend. This Tuesday, August 15, the trains will run like a Sunday.
