The Assize Court of Namur began Monday the trial of Mathieu Wattier, 22, accused of attempted murder and the murder of his grandfather, Mathieu Deneyer, 78 years old at the time of the events. The murder, in which Wattier struck his grandfather more than 20 times with two knives, took place in Brûly-de-Pesche, in the house where the accused lived with his mother and the victim, on May 9, 2020 .
