Amid the recent damage caused by Hurricane Idalia’s ravages in the area, Pasco County Government is taking steps to support affected residents and businesses. From damage assessment to debris disposal, several initiatives are underway to aid in the recovery process.
The first recommended action for those affected is to report the damage suffered to their properties. The local government has created an easy-to-use online tool for this purpose. You just have to take some photos and fill out a short form on the page it is portal. This step is very important, as it helps the federal government determine the level of damage and the funds needed for recovery.
In addition to reporting damage to the local government, residents must file claims with their respective insurance companies. This is an important step to speed up the process of getting financial aid.
The county has deployed damage assessment teams that are actively working in the affected communities. In addition, garbage collection services have resumed their regular hours. To facilitate the cleanup process, landfill fees are being waived for residents through September 11, 2023, although this measure does not apply to contractors.
For Pasco residents who need to dispose of debris, waste disposal centers have extended hours. The West Pasco Resource Recovery Center in Spring Hill will be open daily from 7 am to 6 pm The East Pasco Transfer Center in Dade City will be open Monday through Saturday from 7 am to 4:30 pm
For any other questions or needs, residents can contact the county’s customer service, available Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, either by phone at 727-847-2411 or via chat on the page Web MyPasco.net.
