Mays Mouissi, Minister of Economy and Participations, states in a report on his first 200 days at the head of this ministry to have completed 51 achievements marked by an increasing increase in state revenue and a raising of 485.1 billion FCFA on the regional financial market to ensure in particular the financing of priority projects and the partial clearance of the domestic debt.

Six (6) months following this assumption of responsibility at the highest summit of the State, under the authority of the Prime Minister and following the instructions of the President of the Republic, a Government whose road map, the Minister of the Economy and Participations, worked on the implementation of his department’s roadmap.

It is within this framework that the Ministry has initiated several actions with a view to relaunching the national economy. Indeed, from September 2023 to February 2024, the Minister of the Economy and Investments managed to increase tax and customs revenue by significantly exceeding, each month, the objectives set out in the finance law.

He managed to restore the confidence of international donors by carrying out economic and financial diplomacy actions step by step, by massively and gradually clearing the stock of arrears on the 2023 external debt and by ensuring regular payment of the debt service. debt 2024.

While mobilizing 485.1 billion FCFA on the regional financial market to ensure in particular the financing of priority projects and the partial clearance of the domestic debt, the Ministry of the Economy, in the name of the continuity of the State, is used to fulfill the suspensive conditions which weighed on agreements signed by the previous Government and to negotiate new loans, all to finance numerous infrastructure projects in progress in the areas of roads, urban development and health in particular.

In the field of Expensive Living, the Minister of the Economy has coordinated the taking of new measures which complement the existing system and which concern in particular the reduction in the prices of consumer food products, construction materials and quarry products , the maintenance of free electricity and water supplies to low-income subscribers, the price of plane tickets for domestic flights and that of train tickets.

All these measures of a social nature were developed at the same time as the Ministry of the Economy carried out the project to create the company FLY AIR GABON HOLDING, which has just acquired 56% of the shares of the airline Afrijet and which is rekindle among the Gabonese people the hope of seeing the Government once once more create a national airline, a promise from the President of the Republic during his greeting speech on the evening of December 31, 2023.

To make the action of its services more visible, the Ministry of the Economy will have published, through the General Directorate of the Economy and Fiscal Policy, the first Social Dashboard (TBS) for more than of 10 years as well as the sectoral situation note for the fourth quarter of 2023, essential tools for the knowledge and analysis of the country’s economic, social and financial data.

Likewise, the Minister of the Economy will have led the development of the National Transitional Development Plan 2024-2026 (PNDT), before handing it over to the new Minister of Planning and Foresight.

The creation, in partnership with the BGFI bank group, of the Bank for Commerce and Entrepreneurship of Gabon (BCEG), with capital of 4 billion FCFA to support young Gabonese entrepreneurs and the signing by the President of the Republic of a decree reserving for Gabonese SMEs public contracts whose amount is less than or equal to 150 million FCFA, constitute two important measures initiated by the Ministry of the Economy with a view to promoting the development of local entrepreneurship.

Finally, to materialize the vision of the President of the Republic, who wanted to see the Government once once more establish itself as a decision-making player in the management of the portfolio of State participations and to give meaning to the name of the Ministry for which he is responsible, Minister Mays MOUISSI completed the project to create the General Directorate of Participations.
