Assembly election announced after 10 years in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir – World

The Election Commission of India has announced the state assembly elections in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Polling will be conducted in 3 phases from September 18 to October 1. Haryana Assembly elections have also been announced. This is the first state assembly election in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir in a decade.

Occupied Jammu and Kashmir has been directly ruled by New Delhi since August 5, 2019. Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar told the media in New Delhi that after a very long gap, we are going to hold elections in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that a total of 87 lakh people are eligible to vote in Jammu and Kashmir.

The counting of the votes submitted from all the areas near and far of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir will take place on October 4 and the election results will also be announced on the same day. The Indian government is beating the drum that the people are being given the opportunity to exercise their right to vote so that they can choose their representatives as they wish.

Critics say the 90-seat assembly will have little powers in matters of education and culture only, while decisions on the most important issues will remain in New Delhi’s hands. As a result, the political and economic situation of the region will remain the same.
