We’ve just emerged from the desert of Assassin’s Creed Visions, and we’re already anticipating the next big title in the series, which is aimed squarely at the Rising Sun. Assassin’s Creed Codename Red (which still doesn’t have an official title) remains a mystery, but we’re now hearing strong rumors that the game will feature a female assassin protagonist who’s also a real-life character. According to Insider Gaming and its generally reliable sources, Assassin’s Creed Red is reportedly inspired by the true story of the African warrior Yasuke, a slave freed from Portuguese traders and a personal personal favorite of Oda Nobunaga himself. The bodyguard, Oda Nobunaga himself was known as the unifier of Japan and was called the Demon King. This is only one of two titular characters, as for the female character, the source mentions a name, Naoe, which matches the legendary (and real) name of Naoe Fujibayashi, the daughter of Nagato Fujibayashi, who is believed to be I One of the three great ninjas in Hegu. Currently, Ubisoft has no official information to compare this to, but it’s not hard to imagine the appeal of a story in the Assassin’s Creed universe that includes not just ninjas and samurai, but these historical figures who had such extraordinary lives.
