Asma Jahangir Conference: Concerns over the role of international forces in the situation in Gaza

In the West Bank Palestinians Shawan Abdullah Jabarin, General Director of Human Rights Organization Al-Haq, says that Gaza There is no problem in international laws for peace, but the real problem is the double standards of countries and political leaders.

Shawan Jabarin was addressing the fifth annual two-day conference in Lahore on Saturday, named after Asma Jahangir, a well-known social personality of Pakistan.

Sessions on various topics are ongoing in the conference.

Speaking at the meeting titled ‘Violation of International Laws in Gaza’, Shawan Jabarin said that ‘peace can come to Gaza very soon if America wants it.’

‘But they don’t want that and that’s why American administration is providing support and assistance to Israel in all respects.’

He added that he is now “hoping for the International Criminal Court (ICC) that this international court will lay hands on the politicians, officials and army of Israel and make them account for the blood of Palestinians.”

UN Human Rights Special Rapporteur Cecilia M. Blatt and Pastor of Evangelical Lutheran Church Reverend Munzer Ishaq also addressed the conference participants via video link.

Speakers said that Israeli aggression in Gaza is being ignored by world powers.

World powers are failing to bring about a ceasefire despite the worst violation of human rights. The cruelty of the killers of children, women and youth could not be stopped.’

He said that ‘in these circumstances, efforts are being made to suppress by oppression. There is a need to adopt a peaceful solution because a peaceful life is the basic right of every human being.’

On this occasion, the youth participating in the session also asked questions expressing their concern about the situation in Gaza, to which the guests gave detailed answers. Most of the questions were raised on human rights violations.
