Asiana Airlines Expands European Network with New Prague Route
Asiana Airlines is set to broaden its European footprint with the launch of a new route connecting Seoul to Prague, marking its seventh destination in the region. Starting April 1, 2025, the airline will operate three weekly flights between Seoul Incheon International Airport and Prague’s Václav Havel airport (PRG).These flights will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, utilizing the spacious Airbus A350-900 aircraft, which accommodates up to 311 passengers.
This new route complements the existing services offered by Korean Air, which has been operating flights between Seoul and prague since 2004. Following its acquisition of Asiana Airlines in December 2024, Korean Air will continue its four weekly flights, bringing the total weekly connections between the two cities to seven. This expansion is expected to enhance travel options for passengers and foster stronger ties between South Korea and the Czech Republic.
“Passengers will gain the chance to use a number of connecting flights within the Asiana Airlines network from Seoul to destinations in the region,” says Jiří Pos, Chairman of PRG.“A further increase in the number of flights will also support business cooperation between the Czech Republic and South Korea and open the Czech Republic to more Asian tourists.”
Asiana Airlines currently serves six European destinations, including Barcelona, Frankfurt, Istanbul, London, Paris, and Rome. The addition of Prague is a strategic move aimed at strengthening the airline’s presence in Central and Eastern Europe. Won YooSeok, President of Asiana Airlines, emphasized that this new route will “lay the foundations” for expanding the airline’s network in the region.
Along with the Prague route, Korean Air also operates three weekly flights between Seoul and Budapest, Hungary.Other key connections between South Korea and Central and Eastern Europe include LOT Polish Airlines’ routes from Budapest, Warsaw, and Wroclaw to Seoul Incheon International airport.
According to Sabre Market Intelligence, two-way passenger traffic between South Korea and Central and Eastern Europe reached approximately 926,000 travelers in the first 11 months of 2024. Among these, the Seoul-Prague route emerged as the fourth-largest city pair, with around 100,000 passengers. This highlights the growing demand for travel between these two vibrant destinations.
Prague continues to captivate South Korean tourists, thanks in part to the enduring popularity of the 2005 South Korean TV drama series Lovers in Prague. The Czech Republic Embassy in Seoul reports that the majority of Korean visitors are aged 30-44, accounting for 59.6% of all arrivals. Many of these travelers view Prague as “a romantic Instagram destination,” drawn to its picturesque landscapes and rich cultural heritage.
With this new route, Asiana Airlines is not only catering to the growing demand for travel but also paving the way for deeper cultural and economic exchanges between south Korea and the Czech Republic. Whether you’re a business traveler or a leisure seeker, the Seoul-Prague route promises a seamless and memorable journey.
