Asia Cup 2023; India knelt down, accepted Pakistan’s hybrid model

Other boards, including India, accepted Pakistan’s proposed hybrid model for Asia Cup 2023.

According to media reports, Asia Cup 2023 will be played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka under the hybrid model, the matches of which will be hosted by Pakistan, but the final announcement will be made by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

Pakistan will host 4 matches of the Asia Cup at the historic Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore while the remaining 9 matches will be played in Sri Lanka.

In the Asia Cup, India refused to send its team to Pakistan, on which Pakistan took a stand and suggested a hybrid model for the Indian team to play their matches at a neutral venue, but the BCCI refused to accept the hybrid model as well. On which PCB chief Najam Sethi made it clear that we cannot play the scheduled World Cup in India because our players have security issues there.

Reports have said that the Asia Cup schedule is expected to be announced at the end of this week, while the window for the tournament has been set from September 1 to 17.

It should be noted that if Pakistan does not participate in the Asia Cup, there is a possibility that the broadcasters will be backed off because of the huge amount of money due to the matches between India and Pakistan.

On the other hand, due to the threat of Pakistan not going to India in the World Cup 2023, the schedule is delayed, but following the hybrid model is approved, it is expected that Pakistan will go to India for the mega event.
