Peachy ുകാർ Locals detained an ASI and his gang and handed them over to the police as they tried to escape following being knocked down by a drunken couple. The couple suffered serious injuries to their knee joints in the accident and underwent emergency surgery. Lijith (24) and his wife Kavya (22) are undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit at Chemputra South. The second surgery will take place today.
Prashanth (34), an ASI in Malappuram Rapid Action Force, was driving at Vettukadu Praveen Cottage in Thiruvananthapuram. Peachy police have registered two cases once morest Prashant for driving under the influence of alcohol and causing an accident. The incident took place on the Peechi Dam – Pattikad road at around 8 pm on Monday at the Kannur descent. Prashant and 3 friends were traveling in a car to Thrissur following attending a birthday party at a house in Peechi.
Eyewitnesses say they were speeding. The car veered off the road and crashed into a bike coming from the opposite direction. Panicked, Prashant and his group pushed the car forward and tried to escape. But a part of the broken bonnet got stuck in the wheel and the car stopped running more than 50 meters. Eyewitnesses say one of the occupants of the car was provoked when he brazenly claimed to be a policeman when locals ran away.
With this the natives stopped them. Prashant showed his hand to the bike and tried to escape but to no avail. The two men who were with him passed by. Peachy SHO S. Shukur and his team immediately rushed to the spot and took them to the station in a jeep. The arrest was registered following a medical examination revealed that Prashant was under the influence of alcohol.
