India’s off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has moved up to eighth position in the list of wicket-takers in Test cricket.
Ashwin has overtaken former South African pacer Dale Steyn. On the third day of the second Test once morest Sri Lanka at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Ashwin overtook Dhananjaya D’Silva. Dhananjaya Ashwin’s 440th Test wicket. Ashwin took 439 wickets for Steele. Ashwin took 440 wickets in 162 innings. Former Sri Lanka off-spinner Muttiah Muraleedharan tops the list with 800 Test wickets. Australian legend Shane Warne is second with 709 wickets.
England’s James Anderson is third with 640 wickets. Ashwin is the third highest wicket-taker among the current players. Anderson and Stuart Broad (537) are ahead of Ashwin. He is the second highest wicket-taker in Tests. Former skipper and leg-spinner Anil Kumble (619) topped the list. In the first Test once morest Sri Lanka in Mohali, Ashwin overtook former captain and all-rounder Kapil Dev.
