Kanpur: Indian spinner R Ashwin got a rare win in the Kanpur cricket test against Bangladesh. By dismissing Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanro, Ashwin overtook Anil Kumble to become the highest wicket-taker in Asia in Tests. Ashwin has surpassed former Indian player Anil Kumble who has taken 419 wickets and now has 420 wickets.

Meanwhile, Ashwin still has a long way to go to become Asia’s number one in Tests. Ashwin is currently second behind Sri Lankan spin legend Muttiah Muralitharan who has taken 612 wickets in the Asian continent alone. Ashwin, who made his Test debut against the West Indies in 2011, has so far taken 523 wickets in 192 innings in 102 Tests. 420 of these wickets were in the Asian continent. Ashwin was unable to take any wicket in the first innings of the first Test against Bangladesh, but he shone with the bat by scoring his sixth Test century.

Akash Deep has booked a ticket to Australia, Mohammad Sirajo will be out when Mohammad Shami returns?

Ashwin, who took six wickets in the second innings, was selected as the man of the match. Ashwin, who is ranked eighth in Test wickets, has a chance to move up to seventh in the second Test against Bangladesh. Ashwin needs eight more wickets to overtake Australia’s Nathan Lyon, who is seventh with 530 wickets. India won the toss and sent the visitors into bat on the first day of the second Test against Bangladesh. The match started an hour late due to rain and a wet outfield and was later interrupted due to rain. Ashwin bowled nine overs on the first day and took one wicket for 22 runs. Bangladesh are 107-3 at the end of the first day. The forecast of rain in Kanpur for the next few days has disappointed the fans.
