The head of the Actors Syndicate in Egypt, Ashraf Zaki, attacked actors who practice the profession without a permit, following suspending the activity of young actress Noura Abdel Rahman, and more than 20 actors before her.
Zaki stressed that the union is keen to employ generations of professors, pioneers and graduates of specialized institutes, but at the same time it does not close the door to any new talent.
Zaki said in a telephone interview with a television program that art has recently become “a profession for those who have no profession,” noting that actors are now bringing their friends and relatives and including them in artistic works, at the expense of actors licensed by the union.
Zaki had previously warned all acting workers, saying that when it is proven that an actor worked without a permit from the union, he will expose himself to legal accountability, calling on all actors to quickly go to the union to obtain work permits.
He also warned production companies once morest dealing with more than 20 actors and actresses, waiting for their situations to be corrected, namely Amr Gamal, Angie Kiwan, Yasmine Daoud, Nina Al-Maghrabi, Omar Sharqi, Randa Abdel Salam, Amr Mamdouh, Shima Al-Sharif, Sally Hammad, and Marwan Younes. And Fadwa Abed, Nardine Faraj, Utaka, Salah Al-Dali, Rahma Hassan, Ilham Wagdy, Anas Mubarak, Hala Khaled, Youssef Wehbe, and Hajar Al-Sarraj, in addition to students from the Institute of Dramatic Arts before obtaining the union’s permit.
