ASEAN Chair 2023 emphasizes the importance of implementing AOIP | ASEAN

Indonesian Foreign Minister Ms. Retno Marsudi emphasized the importance of implementing the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Vision on Indo-Pacificreferred to as AOIP for short.

Addressing a press conference following the 32nd ASEAN Coordinating Meeting (ACC32) on February 3 in Jakarta, Minister Retno Marsudi stated that the AOIP will focus on four priorities, including: connectivity, navigation, and development goals. United Nations sustainable development (SDGs) and economics.

Indonesia – on the position ASEAN Chair 2023 – will develop a specific list of projects to implement AOIP with the participation of all ASEAN partners.

AOIP is an initiative initiated by Indonesia and agreed to in 2019. AOIP affirms the role and position of ASEAN in maintaining peace, security, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region. , covering the Asia-Pacific and the Indian Ocean.

AIOP is expected to create an open and inclusive approach to promote ASEAN cooperation with partners and jointly maintain peace in the Indo-Pacific region.
