With great technical and human deployment, the second day of the successful Ascension to Nevados de Chillán was launched, which, as Mayor Camilo Benavente stressed, “is a Chillán sports festival where exponents from all over Chile gather.”

And in its 50th version of this emblematic cycling tour, the number of exponents of the Olympic discipline and the coaching staff and leaders have been up to the task, highlighting the communal authority.

“Chillán has been characterized by having great cyclists and this Ascension to the Termas in its 50th version shows that it is an initiative that is part of the activities that we must continue to support and improve more and more,” highlighted the authority along with greeting the Local cycling association and the National Federation that make the event possible.

The Sports Manager of the Municipality, Hernán Blasco, valued the characteristics of this tour that puts Chillán at the epicenter of cycling in Chile.

“We are happy, happy because we have once again been able to carry out and commemorate the 50th version of the Hot Springs, a historical, important version, where the municipality of Chillán has always had the will to play a leading role,” said Blasco.

“165 exponents have come from all latitudes of the country with professional teams and several cyclists of national connotation, it is not true, who participated in the Pan American Games, who participated in world championships,” he stressed.

During this Saturday, February 17, the athletes make an extensive 90-kilometer tour that takes them to Coihueco and then head to Chillán.

“The grand final is tomorrow, Sunday. The runners will leave at approximately 10:00 am to head to Nevados de Chillán. The return has the particularity that attendees will reach the Ñuble routes to obtain points for the national ranking, as they are part of the Chile Cup,” Blasco said.

“This is a test that has been consolidated in the national circuit and in which runners from all latitudes come to participate, it is one of the most important tests in the country,” said the mayor of Chillán, Camilo Benavente.

The president of the Cycling Association, Francisco Balboa, recently valued the contribution of the Municipality and was satisfied with the call and also highlighted the delivery of scores for the national qualifier.

“This test is in the ranking of the Cycling Federation, they included us, since it is likely that a Vuelta a Chile will be held and the runners who arrive can add points.”
