Cafe Long Play, run by Hyori Lee and Lee Sang-soon, announced on SNS on the 3rd, “After a careful meeting, we have decided that it is best to change to the reservation system.”
He continued, “We decided that for the time being, we would have to operate by reservation system as it would cause inconvenience to nearby residents. We ask for your understanding, and on Sunday the 3rd, we will take a break for reorganization.”
They said, “We will prepare well so that you can enjoy coffee, drinks and desserts more comfortably.”
He continued, “I am very grateful and sorry to those who waited for a long time in the hot weather, to those who died because they ran out of ingredients and might not receive more guests. When the reservation system is introduced, we will notify you through our Instagram (Gram) account first.”
Previously, Hyori Lee and Lee Sang-soon’s cafe opened on the 1st, and word of mouth spread through SNS and online communities, and it emerged as an issue among Jeju residents and tourists.
In particular, eyewitness accounts of Lee Sang-soon making coffee and Lee Hyori taking pictures with customers became known, and many people visited the cafe, and even though it was a short period of time, it was a success. In an instant, the number of people waiting for the cafe increased enough to line up 100m, and concerns regarding the damage of residents living near the cafe also increased.
Afterwards, Jeon Yeo-ok, a former member of the Saenuri Party (currently the People’s Power), posted on her SNS, “Standing 100m in line as soon as it opens in Jeju, around 600,000 population, at 9 o’clock. In the end, they ran out of coffee ingredients and put the closing of the business in 12 minutes. But I was like, ‘Why do these people have coffee shops?’ “To the couple Lee Hyori and Lee Sang-soon, opening a coffee shop is like a hobby of ‘coffee love’ with ‘broadcast’ and ‘music’. But for most coffee shop owners, it’s a bloody ‘place of livelihood’,” he pointed out.
He continued, “When the daughters of a chaebol once opened a bakery, social criticism poured in. ‘Is the daughter of a conglomerate threatening even the alley bakery business?’ In the end, the daughters of the chaebol closed the bakery. no better Umberto Eco said, ‘The royal nobles of this era are entertainers’.”
He continued, “I think of them as ‘public figures’ with greater social influence than the daughters of the chaebol. Lee Sang-soon and Lee Hyori, do you really need to open a coffee shop?”
Meanwhile, Hyori Lee and Lee Sang-soon married in 2013 and are living in Jeju Island. Hyori Lee recently finished filming her TV show ‘Seoul Check-in’, and Lee Sang-soon is appearing on JTBC’s music show ‘New Festa’.
