AS Roma won the extra time in Udine thanks to a set-up goal

The football players of AS Roma did not allow another loss of points in the fight for the top five, when in the end of the match played in the 32nd round of Serie A they succeeded at Udinese with a result of 2:1. The duel, which was not completed 11 days ago due to Evan Ndicky’s health problems, was opened by Roberto Pereyra in the 23rd minute. The visitors were able to respond following the change of sides thanks to Romel Lukaku. In the final twenty minutes, Bryan Cristante was the only one of the goal actors to complete the set-up in the fifth minute, turning the match in favor of the Giallorossi.

The Romans entered Thursday’s match following a home defeat once morest Bologna, and were already seven points behind this fourth-placed opponent. Before that, however, they were unbeaten in seven games in the league and they certainly wanted to continue this trend in Udine as well. The Bianconeri were in a real fight for survival, as they currently had the same points in the table as the last relegated.

Le Zebrette didn’t get off to a bad start in the match that took place on the original date, when Lazar Samadržič’s deflected cross went all the way to Kingsley Ehizibue. Pereyra took advantage of the hesitation of the regular stopper of Juventus and converted a separate escape.

The hope of a turnaround was only given to the Romans shortly following an hour by Lukaku, who found Cristante’s sharp cross and finished into an empty net. However, the arrival of Paulo Dybala, who really revived the Capitolini offensive, was felt the most. But the smile on the faces of all the fans did not last long, because in the 73rd minute there was an interruption and Ndick had to leave the field on a stretcher, following which the referee ended the game prematurely following a few minutes.

Also in the continuation 11 days later, the doctors soon had to act when Sardar Azmoun and Nahuén Pérez collided unpleasantly. They continued to be the main actors, as Azmoun robbed Pérez of the ball in front of the penalty area, but he was unable to shoot past Maduka Okoye. In the fifth minute of the set time, the spectators also got a goal thanks to Cristante’s header following a corner kick.

The last minutes of the match turned the final result in Rome’s favor. In the next round, AS will face Napoli on April 28 in a tough match, the Bianconeri will challenge the excellently playing Bologna on the same day.
