Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Activists on social media circulated videos of the late Saudi Prince, Saud Al-Faisal, who served as the Kingdom’s foreign minister for 40 years, and what he said in a previous interview with colleague Christiane Amanpour to CNN.
Al-Faisal said in the video: “The invasion of Iraq is not easy. How can 250,000 soldiers maintain order in a country like this, especially if the war will lead to destabilization that we think it will lead to, and if the social order falls, who will fight whom?”
He added: “If chaos prevails (in Iraq), who will pay the price for this chaos? We hate to see American soldiers pay the price of an invasion that will not have dire consequences that will be beautiful.”
Al-Faisal said in another interview: “If regime change will be at the expense of destroying Iraq on it, then you solve a problem and create 5 other problems. He suffers from many problems, the simplest of which is the ethnic and sectarian situation in Iraq, which left the country on the edge of the abyss, from a state of chaos at one time to a state of total dictatorship at another time, and we were convinced that Saddam Hussein was not the cause of the problems in Iraq.
