Defending Madrid Open CHAMPION Aryna Sabalenka was forced to work hard by Magda Linette before winning in the second round of the Madrid Open, Friday (26/4).
Sabalenka advanced to the third round of the Madrid Open following winning 6-4, 3-6 and 6-3 over Linette.
The Australian Open champion was in poor form following winning in Melbourne and Linette managed to give him trouble in the match which lasted 2 hours 9 minutes.
Sabalenka, who is ranked second in the world, managed to win the first set but stumbled in the second so Linette managed to lead 4-1 and won to force a third set.
Sabalenka, a two-time Grand Slam winner, saved three break points in the third set to take a 5-3 lead.
The 25 year old tennis player recorded victory over his opponent who is ranked 48th in the world with ace serves.
