Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday announced a notable financial boost for eligible women in teh city. Highlighting two key initiatives, Kejriwal stated that the Delhi Cabinet has approved a proposal to provide Rs 1,000 every month to women under the ‘Mahila Samman Yojana,’ as outlined in the Budget 2024-25.However,he emphasized that if the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is re-elected,this amount will be doubled to Rs 2,100.
This move comes ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, scheduled for February next year. Addressing a crowd alongside Chief Minister Atishi, Kejriwal clarified that the cabinet had approved the initial Rs 1,000 disbursement. However, he pledged to provide Rs 2,100 per month to each woman once the elections conclude and if the AAP forms the government again.
Increased Aid Approved Amidst Rising Inflation
“We announced that we will give Rs 1,000 to every woman every month in their bank accounts. Today, under the leadership of Chief Minister Atishi, the cabinet cleared the proposal to give Rs 1,000 to every woman’s bank account,” Kejriwal said. He explained that immediate disbursement would not be possible as elections are expected to be announced within the next 10-15 days.
“Elections will be announced in 10-15 days, so it is not possible to transfer money to the account right now. Some women said that Rs 1000 will not be enough due to inflation,” Kejriwal said, justifying the increased allocation.
Kejriwal announced that the Delhi government has increased the amount to Rs 2,100, with registration for the scheme commencing on Friday.

Delhi CM Kejriwal Unveils Rs. 2,100 Monthly Payment Scheme for Women
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced a groundbreaking initiative, the “Mahila Samman Yojana,” pledging a monthly financial assistance of Rs. 2,100 to every woman in the national capital. This move comes ahead of the impending Delhi Assembly polls, generating a wave of reactions from opposing political parties. The scheme, initially proposed in the Delhi government’s Budget 2024-25, faced delays due to Kejriwal’s recent arrest. While unveiling the scheme,Kejriwal confidently stated,”Where will the money come from? I am a magician. I am a magician of accounts. I know where to get the money from. How to spend it. If I say it, I will do it.” He addressed critics who questioned the feasibility of the scheme, drawing parallels to his previous successful initiative of providing free electricity. “When I first said the electricity will be free, they said the same thing that the government does not have funds but we did it…people were saying it is not possible but if Kejriwal decides something he will do it,” Kejriwal asserted. BJP Leaders Criticize the Scheme as “Lollipop” The declaration has sparked immediate reactions from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).Delhi BJP Chief Virendra Sachdeva, while accusing Kejriwal of being the “king of lies,” questioned the scheme’s implementation, citing the unfulfilled promises of a similar scheme in Punjab, where the AAP is also in power. “Jhooton ke Jahanpanah,Arvind kejriwal… You must tell who is ruling Punjab. You had promised the same thing in Punjab but no one got anything there,” Sachdeva countered, labeling the scheme a mere “lollipop” timed strategically ahead of the elections. “this is just a lollipop as Elections draw near. People only believe PM Modi who has not just promised but also is giving benefits. Delhi and people only believe in Modi ji’s guarantees,” Sachdeva added. Taking aim at Kejriwal’s self-proclaimed “magician” title, Sachdeva stated, “You are a magician and this magic is visible in the excise scam. people of Delhi are done with your Jaadugari.” Kejriwal Confident of Winning Big Unfazed by the criticism, Kejriwal expressed confidence in securing a decisive victory in the upcoming polls. “I believe if each and every woman will vote for us, we will get at least 60-65 seats out of Delhi,” he declared. Similar Schemes in Other States The ”Mahila Samman Yojana” mirrors similar initiatives implemented in states like Maharashtra, Madhya pradesh, and Jharkhand, reflecting a growing trend of financial assistance programs aimed at empowering women.
