How did the Etruscans express themselves? The Sumerians? Or the British before the 14th century? This is what the Equator AI Youtube channel offers us: to restore in sound mode ways of expressing oneself that have disappeared for several centuries.
The clips present us with “portraits” of people dressed in the context of their times. Each person recites a text in the most likely pronunciation – said text appears next to their character. Equator AI pushed the experience further by simulating the movement of the reciters’ lips.

Unrecognizable old English
The surprise comes from the clip Old English (Old English) which sounds so different from the current version that it is difficult to make out the slightest word. Explanation: the “great vowel change”, which took place between 1400 and 1700, led to a change in pronunciation.
Who are these people ?
What to say ? This is all very impressive. We only have one reservation regarding such an experiment: it is impossible to know which artificial intelligence algorithm Equator AI used to produce these voices. And the YouTube channel offers no information on who made these clips. So how can we give complete credence to these documents?
