Artificial intelligence for the audit courts

The Upper Austrian State Audit Office (LRH) will test the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in two projects. This is intended to sift through larger amounts of data, detect irregularities and identify developments.

Above all, AI should help auditors to “save a lot of time” and give them the opportunity to “concentrate on the essentials and go into depth,” said LRH director Rudolf Hoscher. As a contribution to development, the nine state audit offices are hoping for a six-figure sum from EU funding.

The “Phönix” project presented by Hoscher deals with the question of how invoices can be checked more easily and more precisely using AI.
