A song that uses artificial intelligence to reproduce the voices of singers Drake and The Weeknd has gone viral on social media.
The song (Heart On My Sleeve) parodies the work of pop star and actress Selena Gomez, who previously dated the singer (The Weeknd), and since it was posted on Friday, the song has achieved more than 8.5 million views on TikTok, in addition to being played more than 254,000 times on Twitter. Spotify application Spotify.
The song’s author, known as ghostwriter, says the song was created by an artificial intelligence program that was programmed on musical sounds.
“This is just the beginning,” the song’s YouTube video reads under the caption, with one listener responding in the comments: “We really are in a new era, I can’t tell what’s real or fake anymore.”
AI developer McKay Wrigley added on Twitter: “This is the first example of AI-generated music that really blew me away.”
The song begins with a piano instrumental melodies and transitions to a loud stereo beat, like Drake’s rap.
Then The Weeknd’s AI voice responds with a clip “claiming” that Gomez cheated on him before their split in 2017.
The song also includes a call out to producer Mitro Boomin, who has worked with artists such as Savage 21, Future, Nicki Minaj and Kanye West.
The song is characterized by low quality, and the sounds are sometimes distorted and vague, and it is possible that it is artificial from artificial intelligence, and it has not witnessed interaction from the artists with the song yet, but Drake recently expressed his dissatisfaction with the reproduction of his voice, and posted on Instagram: “This It’s one of the biggest hoaxes of artificial intelligence,” following he found a fan-made video in which he appeared to be singing one of his songs.
Initially, Universal Music Group wrote to streaming services including Spotify and Apple Music, asking them to block AI companies from accessing their music libraries, as these companies were believed to be using music to build AI programmes.
The group added, “We will not hesitate to take steps to protect our rights and the rights of our artists.”
Many websites also offer fans the ability to create new songs using the voices of the world’s biggest pop stars. French producer David Guetta recently used a website called Oberdack to emulate the voice of rapper Eminem and add the sound to his repertoire.
He told the BBC: “I am sure that the future of music will be in artificial intelligence, but the technology will only be useful as a ‘tool’ for sampling, because what distinguishes the artist is the taste and the human feelings that he wants to express.”
Other fake clips that have gone viral recently include a song (deepfake) by singer (Rihanna) She sings “Cuff It” by Beyoncé, as well as a song Hey There Delilah Voiced by singer Kanye West by artificial intelligence.
The rapid development of technology has created a stir in the music industry. The song (Heart On My Sleeve), for example, does not violate copyright, as it sounds like the original version.
The author also made it clear that Drake and The Weeknd were not involved in the song, but would benefit from misleading the audience into thinking it was real.
In response, a wide range of musicians and artists have launched the Human Art Campaign, which aims to ensure that AI does not “kill” human creativity.
The group, with support from the Recording Industry Association of America and the Independent Music Association, which represents the British music industry, has outlined seven principles that advocate best practices for AI, stressing that copyright protection should only be granted to music composed by humans.
“There is a lot of potential in AI technology, but it also presents many risks for our creative community,” said Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy Association, which launched the initiative.
He added, “It is very important that we understand this matter early so as not to risk losing the artistic magic that only humans create.”
