In Geneva, a three-tonne construction machine slipped into the Rhône on Wednesday at the start of the followingnoon. Given the wooded environment, he had to be airlifted. A Super Puma pulled him out of his bad posture five hours later.
The Geneva Defense and Fire Department was called on Wednesday at 1:45 p.m. for a construction machine that ended up in the Rhône following a fall of ten meters.
The vehicle, an “articulated dumper”, was partially submerged in water. The driver of the vehicle was able to get out before the fall without injury, said Nicolas Millot, communication officer of the Geneva Fire and Rescue Service, to RTS.
The machine, used for work to secure the cliffs of St-Jean, was rolling on a small path when one of its wheels got stuck. He then skidded into the Rhône.
The SIS intervened with a boat and eight firefighters. The police navigation brigade also came to secure the scene. A dam was installed to protect the river from any pollution, because the vehicle presented a risk of leaking a hundred liters of hydrocarbon.
The Super Puma was able to pull the craft out of the water at 6:44 p.m.
