Art that protects women | Nachrichten.at

“The intention of my pictures is to build up and carry exactly the strength that is needed for challenging situations in the subconscious and conscious in order to be able to stand alone in life,” says Patricia Wenigwieser. The 28-year-old calls her art “stand-alone” and wants to use it to draw attention to the protection of women.

There is a reason for the artist’s commitment to exhibiting her works in the pop-up store on Linz’s main square until December 31st. She has experienced toxic relationships with physical and psychological violence. “If I hadn’t fought my way out, I would probably have stumbled from one unhealthy, stressful relationship to the next throughout my life,” says Wenigwieser. But it took her years to process what she had experienced and emerge stronger from it. Next year she wants to write a book regarding her journey.

“Each of my pictures should be a reminder of strength and courage. When a woman chooses a picture for herself or for someone as a present, it should be a reminder that she is part of something bigger,” says the Linzer native. By the way: 50 percent of the proceeds go to the Linz women’s shelter.

Organizations that actively promote women’s protection and provide contact points for women in need will be present in the pop-up store throughout December. Possibilities for civil courage are also shown. There will also be workshops on the topic of “Inner Power” on December 14th and 20th and a benefit concert on December 15th.
