Arsenal won the Premier League clash once morest Manchester City 1-0 on Sunday evening following a late goal. Gabriel Martinelli scored the gold goal for the Gunners in the 86th minute with a shot from the edge of the penalty area that was decisively deflected by Nathan Ake. The runner-up from London is now tied with leaders Tottenham in second place in the table, with champions City two points behind in third place.

In front of 60,000 spectators, City coach Pep Guardiola’s team came very close to scoring a goal in the first few minutes. Declan Rice saved from a corner on the line, Ake shot over the crossbar seconds later (5th). City striker Julian Alvarez then blocked a shot from Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya and the ball went into the side netting (17th). City were lucky when Matteo Kovacic was well served with a yellow card for an overly harsh offense on Martin Odegaard.

After the break, the game was open and it seemed to be 0-0 before Brazilian Martinelli, who came on as a substitute at half-time, capitalized on an assist from Kai Havertz. For City it was the second defeat in a row in the league following the surprising 1:2 once morest Wolverhampton the previous week. This last happened to the Citizens almost five years ago.

Liverpool also suffered their second loss of points in a row. A week following the 2-1 draw at Tottenham, coach Jürgen Klopp’s team mightn’t get past a 2-2 draw in Brighton. The gap to Tottenham is three points. Liverpool turned the game around with a brace from Mohamed Salah (40th, 45th + 1/penalty), but Brighton managed to equalize through Lewis Dunk (78th).

Wolverhampton drew 1-1 at home once morest fifth-placed Aston Villa. Striker Sasa Kalajdzic, who was brought back into the ÖFB selection by team boss Ralf Rangnick, was substituted on in the 76th minute. For the 26-year-old, it was his longest league appearance since he tore his cruciate ligament last year – and his first since the beginning of September. The “Wolves” are in 14th place in the table with eight points from eight games.
