It is a tone-setting trio that has switched Manchester City to Arsenal in recent years. Now comes information that states that the “Gunners” want to bargain with their light blue rival once more.
João Cancelo is currently on loan at Barcelona but due to a falling out with head coach Pep Guardiola, he looks set to have no future at City. The Portuguese himself is keen to stay at the Catalan giants, but due to the financial problems facing the club, such a transfer might prove difficult to resolve.
Sport writes that Arsenal and clubs in the Saudi top league, SPL, are aware of the situation. They are also interested in signing the 29-year-old, who is likely to be sold this summer.
However, Barça have not given up hope and believe they are sitting on a trump card: namely the player’s own will to play for them. The hope is that Cancelo will refuse to go to another club in order to “force” a permanent move to the La Liga giant. A scenario described as “probable”
It remains to be seen who will win the tug of war for fullback.
Cancelo has scored four goals and four assists in 33 competitive matches in the Barça shirt. His contract with Manchester City runs until 2027.
