Arsenal Set Premier League Red Card Record Against Manchester City

Arsenal set a new record for the most number of red cards in a Premier League match against Manchester City. Arsenal became the first team to reach 100 red cards in the Premier League after Brazilian defender Gabriel was sent off two minutes later.

Arsenal made a good start to their five – goal defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League in August. The Gunners dominated throughout the first half and took the lead through Bukayo Zaka. Arsenal then abandoned the game after Riyad Mahrez converted a penalty in the second half to put Manchester City ahead.

This is the first time a team has received 100 red cards in the league since the English Top Flight League was transformed into the Premier League in 1992. Gabriel and Arsenal suffered a setback when they received unnecessary yellow cards. It was also the eleventh red card Arsenal have received since Michael Arteta’s take over as coach in 2019. No other Premier League club has received so many red cards during this period.

Thirty minutes after Gabriel’s dismissal in the 59th minute, Arsenal managed to overcome the pressure, but in injury time Rodrigo Gunners put an end to the resistance and led Manchester City to victory. While City maintained their lead in the Premier League, the defeat was a major setback for Arsenal’s top-four hopes.
