The Gunners beat the French champions thanks to two goals scored in the first half.
Arsenal confidently beat the French PSG in the match of the second round of the main stage of the Champions League of the 2024/25 season. The match at the Emirates Stadium in London ended with a score of 2:0.
Mikel Arteta’s men scored both goals in the first half. In the 20th minute, Kai Havertz got past Paris goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and opened the scoring in the game by closing in on Leandro Trossard’s pass.
In the 35th minute, the Gunners doubled their lead. Bukayo Saka made a cross from a free kick, and Donnarumma made a mistake – the ball flew past all the players and ended up in the goal of the French club.
Luis Enrique’s wards tried to fight back, but failed to respond with at least one goal. Juan Neves had the best moment in the 67th minute, but he hit the crossbar after a corner kick.
Arsenal’s Ukrainian defender Oleksandr Zinchenko was not included in the application for the match against PSG, as he continues to recover from a calf muscle injury.

Thanks to this victory, “Arsenal” (4 points) rose to eighth place in the overall tournament table of the main round of the Champions League. PSG dropped to 18th position with 3 points.
Note that in the first round of the most prestigious European tournament “Arsenal” shared the points with Italian “Atalanta” (0:0), and PSG won the Spanish “Girona” (1:0).
In the third round of the Champions League, “Harmashi” will host Shakhtar Donetsk, and the Parisians will play the Dutch PSV on their field. Both matches will take place on October 22.
The eight best teams of the main stage of the Champions League will go directly to the 1/8 finals. Clubs that will sit in general standings places from the 9th to the 24th, will play paired head-to-head matches to advance to the 1/8 finals. The rest will complete their performances in the European Cups.
