Arsenal loan Raheem Sterling – SvenskaFans

Raheem Sterling temporarily turns red and white, and Chelsea pays for most of the party.

There were probably few who thought that Raheem Sterling would become Arsenal’s “deadline day bomb”. But last night it was clear that the 29-year-old is signing a loan agreement that extends to the end of the season. – You will soon see the best of me, he says in his presentation video.

First Jorginho, then Havertz and now Raheem Sterling. Arsenal continue to pick cherries from the big Chelsea cake.

The 29-year-old winger was, to say the least, a man of rumors during the final hours of the transfer window. At the same time as Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca made it clear that the 29-year-old is not part of his plans, Arsenal took an opportunity to strengthen the offensive. Rumors abounded during the Friday evening and finally the transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano came out with the fact that the deal was rowed in port after the transfer window closed. During Saturday morning, the Englishman was then presented on Arsenal’s website.

During his years at Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City, Sterling has made 379 appearances in England’s top division, where he managed to produce 123 goals and 63 assists. In total, he has won four Premier League titles and eight domestic cup titles, all while at Manchester City.

The winger signs a season-long loan deal with Arsenal reportedly “only” paying £100,000 a week of the £350,000-plus the winger earns at Chelsea.
Presumably it has been that Edu and Arteta were aware of the situation during the week and decided to wait out Chelsea who they know were desperate to send Sterling out. Especially given the late signing of Sancho from Manchester United which was also completed in the final hours of the window. Therefore, Arsenal now pay only a small part of the salary and also do not pay a loan fee that Chelsea initially wanted.

It may not have been Raheem Sterling who was the name everyone had hoped would bolster Arsenal’s attack ahead of next season. But given the cheap money and the incredible potential the Englishman still possesses, this is a very good signing in my eyes.

Because despite the weak performances at Chelsea, the move from south-west to north London might give him the fresh start he needs. We all know what kind of player Sterling can be and if there is anyone who can unlock his potential it is Mikel Arteta. Given the harmonious environment around the club and the previous collaboration between Arteta and Sterling from their time at City, it shouldn’t take too long for him to adapt either. The style of play is well known to him and in addition to his speed and his skill in one-on-one, he also contributes experience and routine to this young team as well as a relief to Saka on the right wing.

We welcome Sterling with open arms and it will be very interesting to follow him at Arsenal during the season!
