Arsenal are, this Saturday evening, leader of the English championship. The Gunners dominate the Premier League following a hard-fought victory once morest Brentford (2-1) at the Emirates on the 28th day. A goal from Kai Havertz four minutes from the end of normal time delivered the north London club.

Havertz delivers once more for the Gunners

Mikel Arteta’s team had doubts for a long time, facing an opponent who missed two golden opportunities to take the advantage in the second half. Arsenal thought they had done the hard part by opening the scoring with a header from Declan Rice (1-0, 19th), from a nice cross from Ben White. But a very unexpected equalizer from Yoane Wissa came in added time of the first period (1-1, 45th+4), following a blunder by goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale for his return as a starter and while the Gunners were quietly dominating the part.

Dominant, but sometimes feverish in defense, the Gunners were finally able to control their emotions and make the decision thanks to their new reference center forward, Kai Havertz (2-1, 86th), who has four goals and two assists during their last four Premier League matches.

This eighth victory in a row in the league allows the London club to count 64 points and overtake Liverpool (63 points) and Manchester City (62 points) who face each other on Sunday in the clash at the summit (4:45 p.m.).
