Jerusalem: Arab-Israeli actress Maisa Abdel Hadi was arrested for posting on social media regarding the lightning attack by Hamas in Israel. Hadi was arrested on charges of terrorism.
The police informed that the actress will be kept in custody till Thursday. On the 7th of this month, Hadi posted a picture on social media of a bulldozer destroying the fence between the Gaza Strip and Israel during an attack by Hamas.
The post was captioned, “Let’s go Berlin style.” The actress’ expression was in reference to the fall of the Berlin Wall, which divided Germany until 1989. Her lawyer told the media that Hadi was arrested on charges of supporting terrorism. 37-year-old Maisa Abdul Hadiya has acted in many serials, movies and dramas.
Arab-Israeli singer Dalal Abu Amne was also detained by police this week over one of her social media posts. Arabs in Israel and Palestinians in East Jerusalem have been expelled from colleges and arrested for showing solidarity with Gazans since the start of the conflict between Israel and Hamas, rights activists say. Arabs make up one-fifth of Israel’s population.
