Arrests and Drug Trafficking Crackdown at Tomorrowland: 37 Arrested, 181 Arrested in Total

Thirty-seven people were arrested for drug trafficking during the two weekends of the Tomorrowland festival which was organized in Boom (province of Antwerp), the Antwerp prosecutor’s office said on Tuesday. The suspects were apprehended while selling narcotics in and around the provincial domain which hosts the festival. Three of the arrested dealers were brought before the investigating judge. All will have to appear before the criminal court, during a thematic hearing on drugs in Tomorrowland which will be organized later in the year.

The police also checked 360 festival-goers who were in possession of a quantity of drugs a priori intended for their personal consumption. The interested parties were fined and had to settle a transaction, in the form of an immediate perception. All the fines collected amount to 86,250 euros. The narcotics were seized. Offenders were asked to hand over their festival access bracelet and leave the premises immediately, as were apprehended drug dealers.

A total of 181 people were arrested during this 17th edition of Tomorrowland, which was organized over two weekends in Boom, from July 21 to 23 and from July 28 to 30
