However, yesterday (23-09-2024) in the morning he was arrested by police officers of the Security Directorate of Ioannina and a case file was filed against him for attempted fraud by complicity and by continuation.
In more detail, earlier, an unknown accomplice had telephoned an elderly woman in Ioannina, pretending to be her daughter who had been injured in an accident, while subsequently, an unknown accomplice, talking to the elderly woman and pretending to be a doctor in the city’s hospital, demanded 100,000 euros in order to submit the her daughter in immediate surgery, an amount she would hand over to the arrested.
The criminal plan was noticed by the elderly woman and police officers who were informed about it, discreetly approached the place where she had agreed to hand over the money, located the citizen and proceeded to arrest him.
From the ongoing investigation it emerged that with the above methodology the perpetrators tried unsuccessfully on the same day to extort an amount of 60,000 euros from another elderly person.
The arrested person was taken to the Prosecutor’s Office of Primary Ioannina, while the police investigation into his possible involvement in similar cases continues.
