At 2 p.m. on this day, the Incheon District Court will hold a pre-arrest interrogation (substantive warrant review) of Mr. A, a man in his 40s, who is suspected of violating the Communications Secrets Protection Act and trespassing into a building.

The decision on whether to arrest Mr. A will be made late that night.

Incheon Nonhyeon Police Station arrested a suspect in connection with the illegal camera installation incident at an advance polling station that occurred on the 28th and applied for an arrest warrant on the 30th on charges of trespassing into buildings and violating the Communications Secrets Protection Act at nine locations found in Incheon.

In addition, Yangsan Police Station in Gyeongsangnam-do booked an accomplice, Mr. B, in his 70s and living in Yangsan City, who is a subscriber to Mr. A’s YouTube channel, without detention on charges of trespassing into a building and violating the Communications Secrets Protection Act.

The police explained, “We have confirmed that the suspect installed illegal cameras in regarding 40 places, including the Happy Welfare Center and gymnasium, which are expected to be operated as early voting and vote counting locations in the name of monitoring election fraud.”

It was revealed that the crime locations of Mr. A, a YouTuber in his 40s who secretly broke into polling places for the April 10 general election and installed illegal cameras, were committed in over 40 locations across the country.

Incheon Nonhyeon Police Station announced that it had confirmed additional crimes committed by Mr. A, who had applied for an arrest warrant on charges of trespassing into a building and violating the Communications Secrets Protection Act.

Mr. A is suspected of secretly breaking into a total of 40 places including advance voting stations for the April 10 general elections across the country, including Seoul, Busan, Incheon, Ulsan, Gyeongnam, Daegu, and Gyeonggi Province, from the beginning of this month until recently, and installing illegal cameras.

Initially, Mr. A’s camera installation locations were identified in 15 locations in Incheon and Yangsan, Gyeongsangnam-do, but the police investigation revealed that he committed the crime all over the country.

The police explained that Mr. A’s 40 installation locations include 26 early voting locations across the country where the Ministry of Public Administration and Security said suspected illegal camera equipment had been discovered by the followingnoon of the previous day.

The police are expanding the investigation, believing that there are illegal cameras installed by Mr. A that have not yet been discovered.

Many of the cameras that Mr. A secretly installed were disguised as communication equipment by attaching stickers with the names of specific telecommunication companies in the form of charging adapters.

He was found to have installed these cameras next to the water purifier to film the inside of the polling place.

The National Election Commission plans to conduct a final inspection once more on the 4th of next month, the day before advance voting.

Mr. A claimed to the police, “I was trying to monitor the election commission’s manipulation of early voting turnout,” and “I decided on the installation location where I wanted to monitor based on my own judgment standards.”
