A decisive step has been taken in the investigation into the arson which cost the lives of five members of the Diol family, Senegalese people living in Denver, in the United States.
American justice opened an investigation which led to the arrest of three teenagers, Gavin Seymour, Kevin Bui and Dillon Siebert. The first two suspects were 16 years old at the time of the incident and the third was 14 years old.
According to Les Échos, Seymour (19 years old today), presented as the leader of the group, pleaded guilty last Friday. According to the agreement reached with the American justice system, taken up by the newspaper, he admitted his role in the arson. “He faces between 16 and 40 years in prison when he is sentenced on March 15. The plea agreement provides for the dismissal of 60 other charges,” reports the Denver Post, cited by Les Échos.
The Senegalese news daily recalls that Seymour, Bui and Siebert had set fire to the Diol home, “apparently to take revenge for the theft of an iPhone mistakenly identified at the victims’ house”.
