Arrest of Master Trainer Jafar Bhimantavida of Banned PFI by NIA: Weapons Training and Terrorist Attacks

Kochi: The master trainer of banned organization Popular Front (PFI) has been arrested. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested Jafar Bhimantavida, the accused in many murder cases. Jafar was absconding and was caught by the NIA team from his house in Kannur.

The NIA found that Jaffer was providing weapons training to the Popular Front’s hit squads. Jaffer was arrested during a joint search by the NIA team and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of the Kerala Police. Bhimantavita Jafar was arrested by the NIA in a case of planning terrorist attacks in different places and targeting different individuals to bring Islamic rule in Kerala by 2047. Jaffer is the 59th person to be arrested in the case. The NIA has filed a charge sheet against a total of 60 people.

NIA sources had stated that they had received evidence that PFI hit squads were formed and trained in Kerala and other states to kill members and leaders of various communities.
