The Coast Guard says the truck, driven by a 34-year-old man, ran over the 58-year-old while reversing as the man was walking on the roadway.
The 58-year-old was given first aid by EKAB rescuers who arrived at the scene, however, it was already too late.
His body was taken to the Papanikolaou hospital, while the preliminary investigation is being carried out by the Central Port Authority of Thessaloniki.

At midday yesterday, the Port Authority of Thessaloniki was informed about a traffic accident with fatal injury to a 58-year-old foreigner (a citizen of Serbia), which took place at gate 16, inside the port of Thessaloniki.
Specifically, a lorry (F/C) vehicle with a passenger seat, driven by a 34-year-old citizen, reversing, ran over the 58-year-old pedestrian, who was walking on the road. The 58-year-old was given first aid by EKAB rescuers who arrived at the scene, with negative results.
The body was transferred to the General Hospital of Thessaloniki “PAPANIKOLAOU”. The Central Port Authority of Thessaloniki, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, ordered a necropsy, while the 34-year-old driver of the F/G vehicle was arrested for violating article 302 of the Criminal Code. “Manslaughter by negligence”.
