Arrest Made in Attempted Child Kidnapping – Latest Updates and Safety Information in Tervuren

The individual who attempted to kidnap an 11-year-old child on the Market Square in Tervuren on Friday November 10 was arrested this Thursday evening. “He is a 73-year-old man with confused behavior,” explains the Louvain public prosecutor’s office. “He was transferred to the hospital for a psychiatric examination mandated by the prosecution. The investigation is ongoing.”

The man was driving a gray pickup truck when he stopped alongside the boy. He then told her that he was a new teacher from a nearby school. The facts were only reported by the little boy’s mother this Wednesday, November 15.

The suspect allegedly reached out to him but the boy walked away. “There was no physical contact,” confirms the prosecution. It is unknown if other children were approached.

A letter was sent this morning to parents of students to announce the arrest of the suspect.
